Information and Advice

Initial Consultation: I will provide a 15 minute free consultation over the telephone, email or in person.  If you are new to Sport or Remedial massage, I can allay your fears and concerns.  I can emphasise to you the benefits that can be achieved through having a deep tissue massage, whether it is for recovery and rehabilitation from a sports injury, regular help for pain and discomfort, relief from illness or postural concerns or help with recovery from an operation. Just call, email or arrange to meet me.

Duration and types of massage: Throughout your treatment with me I use a variety of techniques to help stretch and loosen the areas of your body which are aching and tight: to relieve tension and pain present in the soft tissue, to improve range of motion around your joints with regular manipulation and mobilisation and help you adapt your posture by providing you with tips and advice.  All of this can be provided during a programme of regular sessions, the number of sessions being dependant in what your initial assessment reveals. I can provide these sessions in varying times; 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes.

Remedial Exercise Programme: I will happily provide you with advice on how to achieve your goals, encouraging you to begin exercising again, when it is right for you to do so and provide you with tips on how to strengthen and stretch your muscles.

What to bring: Please wear loose fitting clothing that can be easily adjusted to allow access to areas that may require attention.

Is sports massage painful?: Sports massage may bring some discomfort and pain but this will be managed effectively throughout the treatment.  Some discomfort may continue for up to 48 hours post the massage as in essence having a massage of this type is similar to undertaking an exercise session. Advice will be provided, where necessary, to control further discomfort.
