Susan Saunders - MSc, BSc (Hons), MISRM - Soft Tissue Therapist

SAS Sport and Remedial Massage is run by Susan Saunders.  I am keen to assist people from all walks of life and to help them alleviate minor muscular and soft tissue aches and pain that has resulted from either physical or emotional stress.

This desire to treat people has come from my own experiences of sport and postural injuries which, over the years has resulted in periods of frustration.  I have sought out and benefited from the help of soft tissue (sports massage) therapists to break this vicious circle of pain and discomfort. Through personal experience I know how much damage can be caused to the body through long hours sat at a computer. This can lead to aches and pains which are often due to a shortening and tightening of the soft tissues.  Poor posture & stress can be the underlying cause of this condition.

After graduating with a first class honours degree from the University of Exeter in Exercise and Sport Sciences, I continued my studies at Loughborough University where I was an awarded an MSc in Exercise Physiology.  I then went onto train at the renound Oxford School of Sports Massage (OSSM) where I obtained a Level 5 BTEC Diploma in Clinical Sport and Remedial Massage Therapy.  This is currently the highest level of massage qualification available in the UK. I am also qualified in first aid and able to apply kinesiology tape to help rehabilitate sports injuries, relieve postural pain & other muscular discomfort.

I have also completed a continued professional development (CPD) courses in Advanced Soft Tissue Release (STR), Positional Release (PR) techniques, Myofascial Release techniques (MF), Vital Glutes/Psoas Muscles, Postural Analysis & Movement Correction (static and dynamic), KT1 / KT2 Kenso Kase Advanced Kinesiology Taping, Born to Walk & Born to Move - James Earl and most recently Dry Needling (similar to Acupuncture).

I am also keen to complete further CPD courses in relation to more specific kinesiology taping (KT3/KT4 Sports), Pregnancy Massage, more advanced soft tissue release and MET techniques & Rehabilitation/Remedial courses.  Watch this space ðŸ™‚

I am a full member of the ISRM, Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage, and I am currently fully insured through Balens to practice as a soft tissue (sports and remedial massage) therapist.

I am able to apply general and advanced methods of massage, including soft tissue release, positional release, connective tissue, muscle energy & neuromuscular, myofascial release techniques, dry needlin as well as provide general advice on post massage rehabilitation.  This extensive knowledge has been acquired through education and practical clinical experience as well as post event massage.

I have been involved in sport all of my life, having been born into a sporting family, and excelled as a junior athlete representing Hampshire for cross country.  Personal injury and illness fuelled this journey into the world of sports and remedial massage therapy.  I now enjoy running, cycling, swimming and triathlon. I have also completed an ultra too (Race to Stones).
